May 7, 2026: today, on the eve of the 81st anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War (the Eastern Front of World War II), a screening of the documentary film "Taganrog: Anatomy of Genocide" was held at the Taganrog Chekhov Public Library. The film is dedicated to the memory of the thousands of residents and defenders of Taganrog killed by the Nazi regime during
the occupation of Taganrog in 1941-1943.
Screenwriter Vitaly Lapshichev is a member of the Russian Military Historical Society, a specialist in intelligence studies, and a former Specialist of Foreign Relations Office of Taganrog Local Government. He is the author of a unique scholarly publication, "German Counterintelligence Agencies in Occupied Taganrog," which was presented a year earlier, in May 2025. This book served as the basis for the film's script.
"Taganrog: Anatomy of Genocide" was produced as part of the federal project "Without Statute of Limitations," with contributions from the Russian Military Historical Society and Tourism and Foreign Relations Department of Taganrog Local Government. The film utilizes archival documents, images, and video footage from state and departmental archives in Russia, Germany, and the United States.
