"The World Reads Chekhov" Brings Together People from 78 Countries
February 19, 2025: the city of Taganrog is inextricably linked to the name of Anton Chekhov. The would-be world-famous playwright and writer spent 19 years, nearly half of his life, in the home city where many streets and houses still look the way Chekhov saw them more than a century ago.
The writer's 165th birth anniversary was traditionally commemorated with a wide range of events, one of them being "The World Reads Chekhov". The international campaign is conducted by Taganrog Department of Tourism Development and Foreign Relations and Taganrog Chekhov Public Library for the third time.
