October 26-30, 2018: official municipal delegation from the sister city of
Cherven Bryag headed by Mr. Ivaylo Petkov Ivanov, Chairman of Municipal Council of Cherven Bryag visited the city of Taganrog. This year marks the 55th anniversary of sister city relationship with the Bulgarian city, which over the years have organized dozens of exchanges and events promoting mutual understanding and lasting friendships. Established in 1963, Cherven Bryag is Taganrog's oldest sister city.
In 2008
a new cooperation agreement was signed to intensify municipal, business and cultural exchanges between the two cities. In the recent years, the deepest engagement was demonstrated by education establishments, especially within the framework of The project
"The Heritage of Saints Cyril and Methodius in the modern world" realized by Taganrog Foreign Relations Office and Taganrog School Number 5.
October 29, 2018 the Bulgarian delegation was received at the Taganrog City Hall by the City Executive Ms. Inna Titarenko and Deputy City Manger Mr. Roman Koryakin. "It is important for Taganrog to promote greater cooperation with its partner cities in Germany, China and Bulgaria", - highlighted Inna Titarenko - "We have to seek points of contact and common ground between entities and organizations as well as the people of the two cities. This can facilitate progress not only in intermunicipal cooperation, but will also encourage improvement of international relations between Russia and other countries. I hope that this visit would be a push towards further enhance the cooperation with
Cherven Bryag in education, culture and other areas."
Mr. Ivaylo Ivanov, Chairman of
Cherven Bryag's municipal council invited an official delegation of Taganrog to participate in commemorative events dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the Bulgarian city, scheduled for June 24-26, 2019.
During the tour of the city, the visitors from Lüdenscheid visited
Chekhov Drama Theater, Chekhov Gymnasium, Chekhov Shop, Taganrog Museum of Art and Chekhov Birth House.
