Taganrog Students Ranked 3rd at the International Pushkin Contest

June 5, 2024: the final of the International Pushkin Contest "We Are Born to Be Inspired," dedicated to the 225th birth anniversary of Russian poet, playwright and novelist Alexander Pushkin, took place on June 2. It was organized by the Russian Cultural Learning Center "Phoenix" (the city of Vicenza, Italy), the Learning and Teaching Center "Mondo Russo" (the city of Rome, Italy), and the International Cultural Association "Carattere Russo" (the city of Montecchio Maggiore, Italy) with support from the International Association of Russian Schools, the Russian House in Rome, the Coordinating Council of Russian Compatriots in Italy, the Faculty of the Russian Language of the Patrice Lumumba Peoples' Friendship University of Russia.

The final was held online. The conference hall of Taganrog Chekhov Public Library was chosen as the city's venue, and Taganrog Local Government took on the coordinator's role.

The International Pushkin Contest "We Are Born to Be Inspired" brought together over 200 participants from 31 countries: Australia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Cyprus, Germany, Greece, Guatemala, Egypt, France India, Italy, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Lithuania, Mongolia, the Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Spain, Syria, Tunisia, Ukraine, USA, and Uzbekistan.

Students from Taganrog, among others, represented Russia at the contest. In the final, the jury properly appreciated the skills of Ilona Tyutyunnik and Konstantin Kovalenko of Taganrog Vocational School of Machinery and Metallurgy, ranking them 3rd. Ilona Tyutyunnik and Konstantin Kovalenko put on a theatrical performance of fragments of Alexander Pushkin's "Eugene Onegin".

At the conclusion of the event, the school's teacher Marina Koronova and Chief Specialist of Foreign Relations Office of Taganrog Local Government Dmitry Koulitchev expressed their thanks to the organizers of the International Pushkin Contest.
