July 14, 2021: Rostov Oblast Governor Vasily Golubev visited
Taganrog Museum of Architecture and Urbanism within the framework of a working trip to the city on July 13. Governor met with Taganrog City Manager Andrei Lisitsky, the chairman of "Historic Taganrog" Foundation Igor Pavlenko, local art historians to discuss the project and a site for the memorial sign in the square near Peter the Great Monument.

Museum's director Marianna Grigoryan presented the memorial sign's preliminary design, which has the form of a three-meter diameter Taganrog fortress model. The memorial is proposed to be made of stainless steel and clad faced with black marble. The suggested site for installation is near Peter the Great Monument - the emperor who founded the city of Taganrog. The year 2022 will mark 350 years since the birth of the first Russian emperor.

Governor welcomed the idea. "We decided to place the memorial sign near the Peter I Monument. Since Peter's Square is popular, the commemorative sign must be of the highest quality", Vasily Golubev said.
The new project will be discussed at public hearings.
