May 29, 2023: the new exhibition entitled "The Magical World of Childhood of Art Nouveau Era" was unveiled to the public at Taganrog Museum of Architecture and Urbanism. It will be open to visitors until September 3.

Over 200 items both from private collections of Valery and Nataly Krugov (Stavropol), Irina Markova (Taganrog) and the collection of Taganrog Group of Museums have been used. There are antique dolls manufactured by Russian, German, French, Italian, English and Japanese craftsmen; children's toys; garments; rare books for kids; articles used for games in late 19th - early 20th centuries.

Among the centerpieces of "The Magical World of Childhood of Art Nouveau Era" are vintage postcards and various illustrations by Elisabeth Boehm, Russian painter and designer who was noted both in the Russian Empire and abroad.

Another feature of the exhibition is a free-of-charge audio guide, while regular museum guides are also at visitors' disposal.

"The World of Childhood at the crossroads between the 19th and 20th centuries - what was it like? What kind of entertainment had kids when computers and television were not available? Their world was filled with many magical objects presented at our exhibition: the music-box, the lens stereoscope - an interesting 100-year old optical tool creating some kind of a 3D graphic presentation. Another kind of magic - books. We have here several rare editions published in early 20th century. The children's library called "Nice Little Thing"(Kroshka) or "Dollhouse Bookhouse". A true storehouse of knowledge! Another important entertainment was playing with dolls. Dolls are probably the most spectacular part of this exhibition", said museum's director Marianna Grigoryan during the opening ceremony.
