October 17, 2022: October 17, 2022: the International Summer Paralympic Games "We Are Together. Sport" were held in the city of Sochi. About 1,100 participants from 11 countries competed for 369 sets of awards in 9 sports.
Members of Rostov Oblast team won a total of 53 medals (15 gold, 27 silver, 11 bronze). Among the athletes, swimmers from Taganrog deserve special attention due to their substantial contribution to the overall success.
The medallists who put Taganrog on the map are listed below:
Yelizaveta Barbatina - gold in women's 100m breaststroke, silver in mixed relay 4x100m medley and women's 200m medley;
Yevgeny Zimin - gold in men's 100m butterfly, bronze in men's 200m medley;
Artyom Pavlenko - gold in men's 100m breaststroke;
Artyom Gladyshev - silver medals in mixed relay 4x100m medley and in men's 100m breaststroke;
Dan Antonov - silver in mixed relay 4x100m medley, bronze in men's 100m breaststroke and 200m medley.
Alexander Skaliukh - silver in men's 100m butterfly.
Yekaterina Konstantinova - silver in mixed relay 4x100m medley.
