Taganrog presented at MITT 2024 in Moscow

March 25, 2024: on March 19-21, Taganrog participated in the 30th international travel fair MITT. It was held at the exhibition and trade center Crocus Expo (Krasnogorsk, Moscow Oblast).

MITT in Moscow is one of the largest trade shows for travel and tourism in Russia, ranking among five largest travel and tourism trade shows in the world. This year it got together over 900 exhibitors from 58 regions of Russian Federation and 29 foreign countries.

Taganrog's immense tourist potential was introduced in the framework of Rostov Oblast's pavilion, contributed by Taganrog Local Government and the city's tourist centers, such as Sudakov Travel. The regional Minister of Economic Development Maxim Papushenko lead the delegation in person.

A special emphasis was made on the founder of Taganrog, Peter the Great. As a result, the director of Independent Non-Profit Organisation "Rostov Oblast Tourism and Business Communication Agency" Tatyana Goryaynova and Voronezh Oblast Minister of Business, Commerce, and Tourism Sergey Kochevnikov signed an implementation agreement on the tour "Startup of Peter the Great". This itinerary extends to 265 km (about 165 mi); it takes three days and two nights. The program includes visits to Rostov-on-Don, Taganrog, Azov, and coastal settlements of Merzhanovo, Tanais and Sambek. As long as tourist destinations associated with Peter the Great occupy a special place in this program, Taganrog stands out.

Once again, MITT proved itself to be an excellent opportunity to share experience and make new business contacts.

An appalling terrorist act took place next day, March 22, at Crocus City Hall, which is, like Crocus Expo, a part of Crocus City center. The gunmen killed at least 137 people, and more than 180 people were injured.

We would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims.
