Art Exhibition on Russian-Chinese Friendship Opens in Taganrog

July 17, 2024: an international art exhibition entitled "75 Years of Friendship of Peoples" was unveiled to the public at Taganrog Chekhov Public Library on July 16. It is dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between the Soviet Union and the People's Republic of China (October 2, 1949).

In total, 40 Russian and Chinese artists submitted over 100 artworks - portraits, landscapes, still-life paintings. Most Chinese participants are from the cities of Qingdao and Shanghai.

The opening ceremony brought together deputy of Rostov Oblast Legislative Assembly and chief of Taganrog Central Library System Tatyana Mikheyeva, Head of Tourism and Foreign Relations Department of Taganrog Local Government Yelena Polyanichenko, and Foreign Relations Officer of Taganrog Local Government Alexander Mirgorodsky.

It is noteworthy that the Russian Federation has declared 2024-2025 as cross years of Russian and Chinese culture. The exhibition "75 Years of Friendship of Peoples" is one of the first fruits of this declaration in Rostov Oblast.

Earlier an exhibition of children's Chekhov-related artworks from the sister city of Jining, Shandong Province, China has been open to the public since July 5 and will be available at Gorky Children's Library and at Library No. 8 until August 5.
