August 10, 2018: regional minister for economic development, heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Rostov Oblast and the representative of Russian Foreign Ministry visited the city of Taganrog to discuss the international trade and promotion of high-quality products at the foreign markets.
The program of the one-day visit began in the morning, when minister Maxim Papushenko, Armenian consul general Vardan Asoyan, honorary consul of Abkhazia Adik Arshba and honorary consul of the Principality of Monaco attended the presentations of production facilities at LEMAX and Promtyazhmash factories. The key event was the roundtable on international trade held at the Taganrog Interregional Chamber of Commerce and Industry
The Rostov Oblast's minister of economic development Mr. Maxim Papushenko welcomed participants of the meeting - about 40 local businesses oriented to external markets - and expressed the hope that the roundtable would allow to improve external economic relations and to expand regional market and go abroad: "Rostov Oblast is a region with a distinct predominance of exports. In 2017 the annual export value reached 6.9 billion US dollars, the year-on-year increase was over 23%." - highlighted Maxim Papushenko - "There are over 20 agreements signed by the Rostov Oblast Government with 8 foreign countries. Only in the first seven months of 2018 we have organized more than 70 key international events and received over 50 foreign delegations.
Taganrog's deputy city manager Roman Koryakin presented the profile of the city, its science, technology, tourism and economy potential and relevant projects. Mrs. Yevgeniya Gavrilenko of "Exports Support Center" provided detailed information on many different forms of support for export-oriented small- and medium-sized enterprises.
Participants of the round-table discussed specific issues regarding the participation of Taganrog businesses in government-backed programs to support exports; exchanged views on strategic plan of Taganrog's economic development, the building of a new port, expansion and improvement of tourist infrastructure facilities.
At the end of the meeting minister Mr. Papushenko, heads of diplomatic missions and representative of Russian Foreign Ministry in Rostov Mr. Zikeev met the press.
