Taganrog Teachers College and Lüdenscheid's Adolf-Reichwein-Gesamtschule Continue Building Lasting Relations

January 14-28, 2016: three 11th-year students from Lüdenscheid's Adolf Reichwein Gesamtschule and their teachers Frau Monika Rode and Herr Juergen Kelle are visiting Taganrog within the framework of international educational exchanges with Taganrog Chekhov Teachers College (TGPI). They came for practical training in Chekhov's home city: at the Taganrog Municipal Schools no. 5, 6 and at Taganrog Teachers College.

Tuesday, January 26, 2016 students of Adolf Reichwein school were received at the Mayor's Office and met the local press. In his welcome remarks, Mayor Vladimir Prasolov told the foreign guests a few facts from Taganrog's history, including the role of Russian emperor Peter the Great in its planning and construction, and told about the problem of saving the city's architectural cultural heritage.

Frau Rode extended greetings from Lüdenscheid's rathaus and personally from bürgermeister Dieter Dzewas, who was a classmate of hers years ago at school. The group's mentor spoke of similarities between Russian and German educational systems as for teaching activities and thanked Taganrog Local Government and Taganrog Chekhov Teachers College for continued support of exchange program and the opportunity to build lasting relations in Russia.

Jana Bogatsch on behalf of German students thanked for the warm welcome: "It's a great experience and a useful opportunity to participate in an externship abroad program. We've had a very good time in Taganrog! I'm glad I could make it."

"Partnerships between the German and the Russian schools are a wonderful way for our students to better understand and love each other's country's culture and language, as well as to make lifelong friends", said Mayor Prasolov in conclusion of the meeting.
