September 17, 2024: the new edition of international theater festival "In the Home City of Anton Chekhov" opened in Taganrog on September 15, 2024.
The tradition of this festival goes back to 1980, and it received an international status in 1993. In this short period of time, theater companies and artists from Russia, Japan, Germany, Spain, Italy, Australia, South America, Georgia, Croatia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Great Britain have participated in the event.
The festival started with "The Karenins: Labyrinths of Memory" staged by Anna Feketa and performed by the actors of
Taganrog Chekhov Drama Theater. The program also features performances by theaters from Moscow, Ryazan, Sevastopol, Kazan, Michurinsk, Omsk and Qostanai (Kazakhstan).
The closing ceremony of International Theater Festival "In the Home City of Anton Chekhov" will be held on September 22, 2024.
