September 13, 2023: the new edition of international theater festival "In the Home City of Anton Chekhov" opened in Taganrog yesterday, September 12, 2023.
The tradition of this festival goes back to 1980, and it received an international status in 1993. In this short period of time, theater companies and artists from Russia, Japan, Germany, Spain, Italy, Australia, South America, Georgia, Croatia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Great Britain have participated in the event.
The festival started with "The Seagull" (play by
Anton Chekhov) staged by The School of Dramatic Art from Moscow. The program features performances by theaters from Moscow, Volgograd, Donetsk, Kineshma, Sevastopol, Gomel (Belarus) and
Taganrog Chekhov Drama Theater.
The closing ceremony of International Theater Festival "In the Home City of Anton Chekhov" will be held on September 17, 2023.
