September 25-26, 2015: Taganrog Chekhov Museum and Taganrog Chekhov Drama Theater joined online marathon reading of works by Anton Chekhov, called "Chekhov is Alive". The online read-a-thon is part of the Russian Year of Literature program and also coincides with playwright's 155th birth anniversary. Readings were held at over 20 venues associated with Anton Chekhov's life, including Taganrog Literary Museum "Chekhov Gymnasium" and literary museum "Tschechow Salon" in Taganrog's partner city Badenweiler, Germany.
In Taganrog, the texts were performed by six actors of the Taganrog Chekhov Drama Theater, six employees of Taganrog Chekhov Museum, two staff members of The Taganrog Chekhov Public Library and Mrs. Irina Golubeva, director of the Taganrog Chekhov Teachers College. Mrs. Oxana Yurchenko, deputy director of the Taganrog Chekhov Museum was honored to be among the first readers of the online marathon, taking over after actress Inna Churikova. Mr. Sergey Gert, director of the Taganrog Theater participated in readings of Chekhov's "The Seagull" along with other actors from Taganrog - Tatiana Shabaldas, Valery Korchanov, Andrey Semyonov, Roman Pylaev and Alexander Voskresensky.
