September 4, 2023: festive events dedicated to the upcoming 325th anniversary of Taganrog's foundation were launched on September 2, when Rostov Oblast Governor Vasily Golubev visited the city in order to inspect event locations, most particularly ones in Taganrog's Gorky Park, and talked with local residents.

Top state officials have sent their congratulation videos. Among them was Chairwoman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko, who had been supervising Taganrog's urban revitalization program.

"You have every right to be proud of the history of your unique city, founded by Peter the Great. There was the first naval base of the Russian Empire. The large-scale reforms of Peter the Great, which made our country a world power and continued in subsequent centuries, got started in Taganrog.

"The names of Alexander the First, Anton Chekhov, Faina Ranevskaya went down in the history of Taganrog. Every time I visit you, I literally feel their association with this city. As you know, history is made by people, and today I want to express my special gratitude to today's generation of Taganrog for its proactivity and concern for the revitalization of the city. I think you have already appreciated the positive changes, new places of attraction. The streetcar system was upgraded, Oak Grove "Dubki" has been revived at your request; the communication between the Gulf of Taganrog and the Don River has been restored, with the construction of a cruise ship pier as part of the works. All of those things are important for the city and its future.

"I truly fell in love with this wonderful city. Taganrog has a special charm, and everyone who has been there will agree with me. Undoubtedly, this is a city of great destiny, and, thanks to the efforts of each of you, it will remain so for future generations," said Valentina Matvienko.

Similarly, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia for Construction and Regional Development Marat Khusnullin complimented the city online. Rostov Oblast Governor Vasily Golubev, Deputy Rostov Oblast Governor Alexander Skryabin, President of Taganrog City Council and City Executive Inna Titarenko, and Taganrog City Manager Andrey Fateyev congratulated the residents on Taganrog in person.

There was a wide number of events, including "Sports Festival" with a performance of athletes in Primorsky Park and the "Street Games Festival" in the Tercentenary Park. Petrovskaya Street gave place to "Art Boulevard," comprised of over 20 musical, literary, artistic venues and exhibition entitled "Industrial Taganrog."
