May 4, 2021: the opening ceremony of the annual all-Russian sailing competitions "Spring Sails of Taganrog" took place on the territory of Taganrog yacht club on April 30.
More than 200 yachtsmen from 14 regions of Russia participate in qualifying rounds of the All-Russian Yachting Competitions "Spring Sails of Taganrog". They compete in such classes as the Laser 4.7 sail, Laser Radial, International 420 Dinghy, the 29er, and the Nacra 15.
Before the first day of the competition began, President of Taganrog City Council (Duma) and City Executive Inna Titarenko had delivered a welcome address to the yachtsmen: "You have already won! Indeed, you showed better results than huge number of other students from your regional sports schools. That's why you are entrusted to represent your schools at the all-Russian competitions in Taganrog. Only strong and spirited people are able to conquer the waters. I wish you a good tailwind and good luck!"
The head of Taganrog's Youth Sports School of Olympic Reserve No 3 Olga Tischenko and the chief referee of the competitions Nikolai Yushkov also congratulated the participants on the start of "Spring Sails of Taganrog". The sailing events will last one week.
According to the results of competitions held in Taganrog, the best sportsmen will be selected for the Russian national youth team to participate in world and European competitions.
