October 10-11, 2008: the application of the city of Taganrog to join the International Assembly of Capitals and Large Cities (MAG) has been officially approved at the 14th session held in Rostov on Don.
The International Assembly of Capitals and Large Cities (MAG) was established on September 3, 1998 in order to stimulate cooperative work by the mayors of large CIS cities to foster social and economic development of the cities. At present, the association brings together 72 regional capitals, republican and oblast centers representing the cities of Russian Federation, Abkhazia, Armenia, Byelorussia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, South Ossetia, Tajikistan, Transnistria and Ukraine.
