Sistercity relationship established with Antratsyt City in Lugansk Oblast, Ukraine

December 7, 2012: in the city of Rostov on Don was held the meeting of the Council of Euroregion "Donbas". Vasily Golubev, Governor of Rostov Oblast; Vladimir Pristyuk, Governor of Lugansk Oblast, Ukraine; Andrey Shishatskiy, Governor of Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine; Alexey Gordeev, Governor of Voronezh Oblast, Russia; Vladimir Prasolov, Mayor of Taganrog; and other heads of cities and townships of Rostov, Voronezh, Lugansk and Donetsk regions participated in the meeting.

During the meeting, Russian and Ukrainian counterparts discussed the activity of Euroregion "Donbas", Rostov Oblast's minister of economy Vladimir Bartenev presented the results of establishing border areas to speed up tourist exchange, vehicles' border crossing, and promote border trade on Russian-Ukrainian checkpoints.

The Council of Euroregion "Donbas" approved by voting the accession of Voronezh Oblast to the alliance. The event was finalized by signature of five new sister city relationships, including the agreement between Taganrog and Antratsyt (Lugansk Oblast, Ukraine). The agreement was signed by Vladimir Prasolov, Mayor of Taganrog and Alexander Yanev, Chairman of the Antratsyt City Council.

The city of Antratsyt is in Lugansk Oblast, Ukraine. The population is currently 80 thousand people of 50 nationalities. In 1877 Anton Chekhov visited the place, which he called "The Don Switzerland". Until October 1917 the area was part of Taganrog District of Don Voisko Province.
