Trainee of Taganrog Tennis Academy Aslan Karatsev Wins ATP Tour

January 22, 2022: Aslan Karatsev became three times champion of the ATP World Tour, which is a worldwide top-tier tennis tour for men organized by the Association of Tennis Professionals. In the final, which was held on January 15 in Sydney, Karatsev defeated the British player Andy Murray (6-3, 6-3).

On his way towards the final, Karatsev beat Miomir Kecmanovic (Serbia), Lorenzo Sonego (Italy), and Daniel Evans (Great Britain).


Aslan Karatsev had moved to Taganrog in his teenage years. Alexander Kuprin and Ivan Potapov had been Karatsev's coaches in the city. Alexander Kuprin had played a key role in transferring Karatsev into adult tennis.

Led by Kuprin, Karatsev had reached the 46th place in ITF junior rankings, had been proclaimed the best junior of 2011 for the "Russian Cup" tennis nomination, and eventually became the champion of Russia. In 2015 the trainee of Taganrog Tennis Academy brought three medals for Team Russia from the XXVIII Summer Universiade in Gwangju, South Korea.

In August 2021 Aslan Karatsev won his first Olympic medal together with Yelena Vesnina in tennis mixed doubles. In October 2021, the player became the 10th Russian winner of the Kremlin Cup.
