June 25, 2025: Alexander Hoffman arrived in Taganrog on a private visit. He is a son of Hero of the Soviet Union Heinrich Hoffman, who was a ground-attack pilot and the author of "Heroes of Taganrog," a book about the heroic struggle of the Taganrog underground.
The main purpose of the visit was to agree the re-edition of the book. Alexander Hoffman also visited the Taganrog Chekhov Public Library, several local museums and educational institutions such as the Taganrog Management and Economics College and the Mariinskaya Gymnasium. In addition, he was given a guided tour at the People's Museum of Military History "Sambek Heights."
According to Alexander, Heinrich Hoffmann's family lived in Moscow, and Heinrich himself often visited Taganrog, working there for weeks and months. This is how the book "Heroes of Taganrog" was written.
The Taganrog underground during the Nazi German occupation included more than 600 people, many of whom were under the age of 18.
