The list of Victory Day events initially consisted of feature concerts, films and other festivities in many locations, public gatherings, and traditional relay races. Unfortunately, some events were cancelled due to adverse weather conditions - unusually low temperatures and heavy precipitations.
Many citizens nevertheless engaged in the public events in one form or another. For example, on Victory Day people visited the eternal flame in Taganrog's Gorky Park. Several of them carried photographs of their ancestors who died in combat in 1941-1945.
The 78th Victory Day anniversary celebration officially culminated in a gala concert took place at the Green Theater of Gorky Park. Among the participants were the city's brass band,
Taganrog Municipal Choir "Lik", and local jazz orchestra named after
Valentin Parnakh. A lot of songs popular in the days of the Great Patriotic War were performed, including "Den' Pobedy" ("Victory Day") and the patriotic march "Farewell of Slavianka".
