Taganrog Joins the Unknown Soldier Week Held in Kazakhstan

December 5, 2022: the Unknown Soldier Week was held by the Russian Center of the Kazakh-Russian International University (Aktobe, Kazakhstan) on November 26 - December 3. The Week was organized in relation to the Russian Day of the Unknown Soldier, commemorated annually on December 3 as a tribute to all the Russian and Soviet soldiers who fell in combat.

On December 2 the event of the Unknown Soldier Week brought together students and residents of Aktobe. Among those who joined it in the remote mode were representatives of colleges and universities from Vladivostok and Irkutsk (Russia), as well as members of the International Union of Children's Non-governmental Organisations and Taganrog Foreign Relations Department.

The head of the Russian Center Yelena Yemelyanova explained the background of the Day and how it is commemorated at the Kazakh-Russian International University. After that, the audience listened to teacher Vyacheslav Artemyev who reported on the contribution of Kazakhstanis to the allied victory in the Great Patriotic War.

Chief Specialist of Taganrog Local Government's Foreign Relations Dept. Dmitry Koulitchev participated in the event in the remote mode. He described the deeds of his great-grandfather, who had fought in the Great Patriotic War.

A few days earlier, Dmitry Koulitchev read aloud the Russian translation of the letter signed by the president of "Forum Russische Kultur Gütersloh" Dr. Günter Bönig at the opening ceremony of the children's art exhibition "Light of Art".
