October 9, 2013: representatives of the Austrian company A.S.A. Group (one of the largest waste management companies) accompanied by Mr. Andrei Tchernei of Austrian Chamber of Commerce and AußenwirtschaftsCenter Moskau met with specialists of housing and communal service at Taganrog City Hall. The opportunity for cooperation in recovery and recycling of waste and solid waste in the territory of Taganrog was the main subject of discussion.
A.S.A. Group has been working in 8 European countries. The company collects and treats domestic waste from more than 500,000 residents and 600,000 tonnes of commercial and industrial waste from more than 15,000 customers. A workforce of more than 600 is responsible for the smooth running of these operations.
Mr. Pavel Shevchik, A.S.A.Group's director of projects dept. listed the company's services that go far beyond waste collecting, transportation and recycling, and include cleaning the streets in wintertime, mechanical - biological waste treatment, producing the RDFs (refuse-derived fuels), which are going to industrial factories such as cement kilns, lime production plants or power stations; landfilling, remediation of old municipal landfills, industrial landfills and hazardous waste, contaminated soil, etc.
Mrs. Tijana Hasslacher. head of A.S.A.Group's New Countries Division asked Taganrog specialists a few questions on waste collection and transport in the city, to clarify the aspects of the current legislation and available resources.
The two sides decided to analyze the possibilities for cooperation and to consider specific proposals at the next meeting.
