October 6, 2005 - the exchange of the official copies of the signed in August 2005 General Agreement on strategic cooperation and MOU between the Russian power engineering company Energomachinostroitelny Alliance (EMAlliance) and the French company ALSTOM was held on October 4, 2005 in Moscow.
The exchange of the official copies was finalized by a press conference held by Victor Danilenko, Deputy Director General of EMAlliance JSC and Philippe Joubert, President of ALSTOM's Power Turbo-Systems / Power Environment Sector.
The ceremony was also attended by Yevgeniy Tugolukov, Chairman of the Board of Director of EMAlliance, Oleg Golikov, Director General of the Managing Company
TKZ Management, Marat Devlet-Kildeev, First Vice-President of EMAlliance JSC, Vladimir Ushakov, President of ALSTOM in Russia, Rostov Oblast Energy and Natural Resources Minister Sergei Nazarov, Oleg Ochin, head of science department in The ministry of Industry and science of Moscow Oblast,
A. Khazin, member of the Council of Federation, Chairman of the Council of Federation's Commission on International Technical and Humanitarian Cooperation and Boris Titov, Chairman of the Delovaya Rossiya (Business Russia) limited company.
Victor Danilenko, Deputy Director General of EMAlliance JSC, said:
"With this agreement, EMAlliance is getting access to engineering technologies and know-how of ALSTOM. We expect to gain an opportunity to offer our products in third countries through the connections of ALSTOM. Europe may also be an interesting and beneficial market, especially in Germany."
Philippe Joubert, President of ALSTOM's Power Turbo-Systems / Power Environment Sector, said: "The strategic partnership with such a prominent Russian thermal power company as EMAlliance will help ALSTOM to bring new technologies to the rapidly growing market of Russia and other CIS countries. The partnership will aid ALSTOM to rapidly expand business in this region and we envisage further co-operation on equipment supplies from EMAlliance to ALSTOM projects world-wide."
Boris Titov, Chairman of the Delovaya Rossiya (Business Russia) mentioned that "the General Agreement and MOU signed by the two companies is another step in development of machine-building in this country. This is a step on the way from dependence to diversification in our economy. It is very important that we exchange technologies and not stocks."
Under the deal, the companies will share technology and know-how as well as marketing/business development, bidding and contract execution for thermal power plant projects in Russia and the CIS. The deal is seen as the first step in negotiations for several business co-operation agreements.
The partners have already concluded the first of these, a Memorandum of Understanding on Circulating Fluidised Bed (CFB) boilers, an efficient clean-coal combustion technology that is increasingly demanded in Russia. ALSTOM is one of the world's leading suppliers of CFBs. This technology may be out of competition as tenders for construction of modern coal power plants as in Novocherkassk, Novosibirsk and in Astana (Kazakhstan). Taganrog
Krasny Kotelshchik Factory will be directly involved in realization of these projects.
In their turn, EMAlliance member companies, including Taganrog's
Krasny Kotelshchik Factory have the necessary experience in production of traditional coal-fired boilers for low-cal coals. These technologies are now in demand due to high prices on natural gas, as in Germany, where a large-scale program for construction of coal power plants has been developed.
EMAlliance is the management company of JSC Machine-Building Plant ZIO-Podolsk, JSC Engineering Company ZIOMAR and
JSC TKZ Krasny Kotelshchik, three major Russian companies with international experience and references in the design and manufacture of thermal power plant. EMAlliance is based at Podolsk in the Moscow region.
