September 18, 2006: During four flights made within the framework of The Sixth International Exhibition and Scientific Conference on Hydroaviation (Seaplanes) GIDROAVIASALON-2006, the aircraft Beriev BE-200ES set new world records in the C2-class (seaplanes, subclass C-2j, takeoff weight less than 45 tons) and C-3 (amphibious aircraft, subclass C-3j, takeoff weight less than 45 tons).

September 6, 2006 was set a new world record in the C-2 class (hydroplanes: takeoff and landing on water) - the maximum flying speed on the closed route of 500 kilometers (without cargo).
The preliminary result is the speed of 650 kilometers per hour.
The plane's crew on the record flight:

  • Captain: Nikolay Kuleshov, test pilot of Beriev Aircraft Company;
  • Second pilot: Vladimir Mikhailov, Commander-in-Chief of Russian Air Force
  • Navigator: Yuri Gerasimov
  • Flight engineer: Alexander Ternovoy


  • September 7, 2006 was the day when three new world records were set in the C-2 class (hydroplanes: takeoff and landing on water) -
    the maximum flying speed on the closed route of 1000 kilometers (without cargo; with 1 ton of commercial cargo; with 2 tons of commercial cargo).
    The preliminary result is the speed of 669 kilometers per hour.
    The plane's crew on the record flight:
  • Captain: Nikolay Okhotnikov, test pilot;
  • Second pilot: Nikolay Kuleshov, test pilot of Beriev Aircraft Company;
  • Navigator: Yuri Gerasimov
  • Flight engineer: Sergey Gundich


  • September 9, 2006 was the day when four new world records were set during two flights in the C-3 class (amphibious aircraft) with takeoff and landing in the Anapa Airport and on water:
    The maximum flying speed on the closed route of 500 kilometers (without cargo).
    The preliminary result is the speed of 669 kilometers per hour.

    The plane's crew on the record flight:
  • Captain: Nikolay Okhotnikov, test pilot;
  • Second pilot: Nikolay Kuleshov, test pilot of Beriev Aircraft Company;
  • Navigator: Yuri Gerasimov
  • Flight engineer: Vladimir Karagodin

  • the maximum flying speed on the closed route of 1000 kilometers (without cargo/with commercial cargo of 1 ton/2 tons).

    The preliminary result is the speed of 674 kilometers per hour.

  • Captain: Nikolay Kuleshov, test pilot of Beriev Aircraft Company;
  • Second pilot: Nikolay Okhotnikov, test pilot;
  • Navigator: Yuri Gerasimov
  • Flight engineer: Konstantn Lysogor

  • The total of world records set in four flights is 8. The FAI (International Aeronautics Federation) was represented by the sports commissar of National Aeroclub of Russia named after Chkalov, Mrs. Tatiana Polozova.

    All results are considered to be preliminary and will be officially approved by the FAI within three months (according to FAI regulations).

    Up to date, Beriev BE-200 planes have set 34 world records.
