August 23-25, 2012: official Taganrog delegation led by Vice-Mayor Marina Radomskaya visited the sister city of Lüdenscheid
in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany within the framework of 20 years of partnership between the cities. In 1991 the Soviet city of Taganrog and the German city Ludenscheid signed a sister city agreement.
The delegation met with the Ludenscheid city hall's staff and was received by Bürgermeister Dieter Dzewas. A special attention was given to finding new opportunities for economic and educational cooperation - visiting one of the largest Ludenscheid companies - Busch-Jaeger Elektro GmbH, specializing in electrical equipment and Püschel Automation GmbH & Co. KG, a producer of engineering tools. Olga Shevchenko, Board of Education Chief visited the Adolf Reichwein school, which develops cooperation with the Taganrog Teachers' College and a kindergarten, while the rest of the delegation visited one of the senior living communities.
At the Hunswinkel Forced Labor Camp's memorial cemetery Bürgermeister Dzewas and Vice-Mayor Radomskaya laid a wreath on a mass grave of Soviet victims of Nazi camps. A capsule with the earth was taken for further official interment at the Glory Alley in Taganrog.
August 25, Taganrog delegation took part at the Sommerfest in the Russian General Consulate in Bonn, where Taganrog-related souvenirs were given to Mr. Yevgeny Shmagin, Russian Consul General.
