Certification of Beriev's BE-103
amphibians in Brazil

August 25, 2005 - Brazilian Civil Aviation Certification Division (Divisão de Certificação de Aviação Civil, CAvC) of the CTA (Centro Técnico Aeroespacial) and IFI (Instituto de Fomento e Coordenação Industrial) at the Brazilian Ministry of Defense completed the certification process of the light multipurpose amphibious aircraft BE-103 produced by Beriev Aircraft Company.

The BE-103 received a Brazilian EA-2005T15-type certificate, making the way for its sales in the South American market. The negotiations to sell amphibians in Brazil coincided with the application for Brazilian airworthiness certificate. A Brazilian customer will be buying the first ten BE-103 machines once this certificate is delivered, with more orders for Russian amphibians in the future.

The amphibious aircraft BE-103 was developed in compliance with Russian aviation regulations AP-23 and has a regular type certificate. Brazil became the second foreign country to certify the plane. The plane was certified in the U.S. in 2003 according to regulations of the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration. Beriev Aircraft Corp. filed applications for certification of BE-103 in China and Canada and is in the process of negotiating new deals on the amphibians with other foreign customers.
