Anton Chekhov memorial day and inauguration of the new literature museum "Tschechow Salon" in partner city
Badenweiler, Germany.
The delegation participated in the annual meeting of the German Chekhov Society (Deutsche Tschechow-Gesellschaft) and election of its presidium and supervisory board. Mayor Vladimir Prasolov was re-elected co-chairman, and among the three new members of the German association's supervisory board, were admitted two representatives from Taganrog - Mrs. Yelizaveta Lipovenko, director of the Taganrog State Literature, History and Architecture Museum Reserve and Mr. Alexander Amerkhanov, president of
TICCI.
The inauguration of the new literature museum "Tschechow Salon" was held July 17 at
Badenweiler's Kurhaus. The event was hosted by Mayor of Badenweiler Karl-Eugen Engler and was attended by the following guests: Sergey Maguta - cultural attaché of the Russian Embassy in Berlin, Professor Vladimir Kataev - head of the Chekhov Commission at the Russian Academy of Sciences, Johannes Dreier of Freiburg city council, Professor Rolf-Dieter Kluge - chairman of the German Chekhov Society, Dmitri Bak - director of the State Museum of Literature in Moscow, Dr. Konstantin Bobkov - general director of Chekhov Literature Memorial Estate in Melikhovo. In his speech during the opening ceremony, Mayor Prasolov highlighted that year 2015 was announced "The Year of Literature in Russia", and the topic of Russian literary heritage is very popular around the world.
The Chekhov week was concluded with a Russian Orthodox service in remembrance of
Anton Chekhov, which was held on July 19, 2015 at the historic building of Marienkapelle in Badenweiler. The return visit of the German delegation is expected in September 2015.
