July 10-15, 2012 official delegation of Taganrog City headed by Mayor Vladimir Prasolov participated in the Tschechow Woche (The
Chekhov Week) and official events dedicated to Taganrog-Badenweiler 10-years partnership celebrations in
Badenweiler, Germany.
The delegation was received by Mayor Karl-Eugen Engler in the town hall, and participated in the meeting of the German Chekhov Society (Deutsche Tschechow-Gesellschaft). Vladimir Prasolov took part in the assembly of the DTG (German Chekhov Society), where Taganrog's mayor was elected cochairman of the board of guardians.
The Taganrog Municipal Choir "LIK" gave several performances - July 14 in Badenweiler's Kurhaus Bühnensaal, July 15 in front of Chekhov's monument on Burgberg hill, and July 16 at Catholic Marienkapelle Badenweiler. In the program of the Chekhov Week was also a presentation "The Germans in the History of Taganrog" delivered by Dmitri Koulitchev of Foreign Relations Office, and the lecture "Die Griechen am Don" (The Greeks on the Don) by Professor Ortwin Dally, Secretary General of German Archaeological Institute in Berlin. The presentation was dedicated to
the results of German-Russian archaeological excavations in Taganrog in 2004-2007 .
July 14, 2012 Mayor Prasolov and Bürgermeister Karl-Eugen Engler signed a protocol stipulating further intentions by the two sides to continue developing cultural relations between Taganrog and Badenweiler. The return visit of the German delegation is expected in mid September 2012.
