May 21, 2021: Due to continuing coronavirus pandemic, new forms of international cooperation are being used, including "video bridges" or Zoom-conferences via Internet. In previous years, the month of May used to be the common time for visits of Bergstadt-Gymnasium (
Lüdenscheid, Germany) students to Taganrog.
The first zoom-conference between Taganrog Management and Economy College and Bergstadt-Gymnasium from the German sister-city of
Lüdenscheid was held on May 20, 2021 within the framework of the mutual educational and cultural project "My town through the eyes of young people". The participants are college students who learn their partnering institution's language. They prepared a series of video clips about their respective home towns and told about the significant sites.
The event was organized by senior teacher Tatyana Avakova, founder of educational cooperation between Bergstadt-Gymnasium and Taganrog Management and Economy College Lyudmila Sveshnikova and German language teacher Albina Dolgireva. The moderators were: informatics teacher Tatyana Avakova (from Russian side) and teacher of Russian and sports Andrej Artschwager (from German side).
Taganrog Foreign Relations Office's Chief Specialist Dmitry Kulichev was also present as a guest of the event.
Lüdenscheid students told in good Russian about the Stadtpark (Town Park), mall, science and experience museum Phänomenta, central plaza and the awakening man monument. Russian students recounted the history of Taganrog, birth house of
Anton Chekhov, famous Soviet actress
Faina Ranevskaya, Don Cossacks, Peter the Great monument,
Chekhov Drama Theater and Chekhov library.
