April 26, 2018: Taganrog City Manager Andrey Lisitsky held a meeting with the delegation of the central administration of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, led by Ambassador Alexander Patsev.
Other participants of this meeting included Mr. Alexey Maksakov, Deputy Director of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia; Mr. Valery Rodichkin, Director of the Personnel Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia; Mr. Vitaly Nevzorov, Principal Consellor at the Foreign Ministry's General Secretariat Department; Mr. Alexander Maksimov, Principal Specialist at Foreign Ministry's Security Department; Mr. Yury Zikeev, RF Foreign Ministry Representative in Rostov Oblast.
The meeting focused on the most important issues of Taganrog's cooperation with its sister cities. The honored guests were particularly interested in relationships with Germany - the towns of
Lüdenscheid and
Badenweiler, and in Peoples' Republic of China - the city of
Jining. The City Manager of Taganrog explained that Taganrog has been conducive to strengthening cultural ties. This includes an active exchange of students and teachers, cultural groups, exhibitions, sport and official delegations.
Ambassador Patsev highlighted that the city of Taganrog is a sacred site for Russians - world-known as the home city of
Anton Chekhov and a place of high intellectual culture.
In closing of the meeting, Mr. Lisitsky invited the Foreign Affairs Ministry's delegation to visit the
landmarks in Taganrog's historical downtown area.
