April 12, 2021: a public planting of trees was held in Taganrog on April 9-10, 2021. The city has kept the tradition to observe this holiday since the first action, which was held
eight years ago with participation of Dr. Georg Birgelen, Deputy Head of Mission of the German Embassy in Moscow.
Taganrogers participated in several re-greening actions across the city streets, parks and other territories, including Primorsky Park, Oktyabrskaya Plaza, and the historic "Oak Grove" established by Russian emperor Peter the Great. Over 1000 trees and 1500 shrubs were planted in Taganrog in a single weekend by representatives of Rostov Oblast Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Taganrog Local Government, Taganrog City Council, municipal corporations workers, law-enforcement authorities, members of junior natural history study groups, youth movements and city residents.
"Thanks to this spring event - the Arbor Day - we all make the city more comfortable, cozier and greener. The useful work for the benefit of this city has become a tradition. I am glad that with each year the number of its participants is growing. We all make a sustainable contribution to the future. We are all united by common cause. I am thankful to everyone who is willing to improve the city of Taganrog", told Taganrog City Manager Andrei Lisitsky.
All tree-planting activities were held respecting COVID-19 health and safety guidelines established by the Russian Federal State Agency for Health and Consumer Rights.
