Krasny Kotelshchik To Modernize Thermal Power Plant in Sofia, Bulgaria


February 10, 2017: Power Machines and Toplofikacia Sofia EAD (Bulgaria) have signed a contract for modernization of steam boiler units No. 7 and 8 at Sofia Thermal Power Plant.

Russian company has won the tender for supply and installation of plant and equipment, conducted according to the EBRD Procurement Policies and Rules. Competitors of the company were tenderers - boiler construction companies from Germany, Poland and Slovakia.

"As Power Machines equipment meets the international requirements for quality and high standards of environmental impact assessment, it was the particular reason for Power Machines to receive a contract for the modernization of TPP Sofia facilities", told General Director of Power Machines Roman Philippov. Pursuant to the contract, Power Machines shall conduct dismantling of boiler equipment of two units; design, manufacture and delivery of new boiler equipment, and have a range of services for installation and commissioning of the reconstructed facilities, conducting guarantee tests and customer training.

The Taganrog-based Krasny Kotelshchik boiler factory, a member of Power Machines group of companies and "EnergoMashinostroitelny Alliance" (PJSC "EMAlliance") will design new boiler facilities to replace the old ones, constructed and installed in 1962 - 1963. The commissioning dates for upgraded units are planned for 3rd quarter of 2018 and 3rd quarter of 2019. The project will improve the reliability and efficiency of the TPP units and reduce the negative impact on the environment.
