President Vladimir Putin Signed Decree on Anton Chekhov's 150th Anniversary Celebrations


February 18, 2006 - Russian President Vladimir Putin issued a decree on nationwide Anton Chekhov's 150th Anniversary Celebrations:
Decree of the President of Russian Federation

on celebrations of 150th Anniversary of Anton Pavlovich Chekhov

Considering the outstanding contribution of Anton Chekhov into the world culture and in connection with 150th anniversary of his birth in January 2010, I decree:
  1. To accept the proposal made by the Russian Federation's Government on celebration of Anton Chekhov's 150th anniversary in the year 2010.
  2. For the Russian Federal Government:
    To form the organization committee for preparation and realization of Anton Chekhov's 150th anniversary celebrations;
    To ensure the development of the plan for the main events within the framework of Anton Chekhov's 150th anniversary celebrations;
  3. To recommend to all government bodies of Russian Federation to participate in preparation and realization of Anton Chekhov's 150th anniversary celebrations.
