This year, the Taganrog's Russian-German Society "Wiedergeburt-T" will be celebrating its 15th anniversary. The society was founded by the late professor Mr. Georgy Rach in 1992, and is now headed by Ms. Yulia Pashenko, postgraduate student of the Taganrog Teachers' College. The society embraces people of German origin, and in general those who are interested in German language and German culture. Their main objective is to preserve and further develop historical and cultural traditions of Russian Germans, to protect their civil, political, economical, social and cultural rights and freedoms.
Up to date, the union was joined by 60 persons. All members frequent the German language classes; young people are actively involved into the Young Artist Club, who are the main organizer of national festivals. The "Seniors" is another club within the society, which embraces the old-timers of the society. "Wiedergeburt-T" will be soon publishing online its new web site with updated information on the activities of the organization. In May 2007, the Taganrogers and visitors of the city will have an opportunity to see the Festival of German culture dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the society, featuring popular and modern German songs, dances and stage adaptations.
The Taganrog-based Russian-German Society "Wiedergeburt-T" is open to cooperation and participation.
