October 20, 2025: the Taganrog Museum of Art has received a donation of a portrait and bust of
Arkhip Kuindzhi, who lived in Taganrog for five years, working as a retoucher in a local photography studio.
The two identical busts, created by sculptor Alexey Konoz, have been given to the Taganrog Museum of Art and the Arkhip Kuindzhi Mariupol State University, as Mariupol was Kuindzhi's birthplace.
Timed to coincide with the donation of the portrait of Kuindzhi by artist Liliana Kofanova to the Taganrog Museum of Art, Taganrog postcrossers (people who exchange postcards with each other) held a "Give a Postcard" campaign. A limited edition (150 copies) of a unique souvenir postcard was released, featuring Kofanova's portrait of Kuindzhi and his work "Red Sunset," painted by Arkhip Kuindzhi between 1905 and 1908. Some of the postcards will be sent within Russia, while others have been taken to Mariupol for exchange with other postcrossers.
