Khartsyzsk, Donetsk Peoples' Republic

Khartsyzsk - a city in the Donetsk Peoples' Republic. It is located on the Krynychne-Ilovaysk rail line in an upland area about 15 miles (25 km) east of Donetsk. Khartsyzsk was founded in 1869 and raised to city status in 1936.

After the military conflict broke out in the former Ukraine, the city proclaimed being part of Donetsk Peoples' Republic on April 13, 2014.

The population (2001 census) is around 64 thou. people, while the total population with all territories subordinated to Khartsyzsk Local Government amounts to 114 thou.people.

Its industry has been mainly metallurgically based (wire and cable drawing, tubes and piping, and foundries), with the manufacture of machinery and armatures. The largest companies are: Khartsyzsk Pipe Factory, Khartsyzsk Cable Factory SILUR, Ukrainian-Canadian joint venture Donbas-Liberty, Khartsyzsk foundry factory ARMLIT, Khartsyzsk metal products factory AVANTGUARD, Khartsyzsk engineering plant, Spetstechnika factory and others.
