Implementation of the first stage of Taganrog's Urban Revitalisation Program Is Nearing Completion

July 29, 2021: Rostov Oblast Governor Vasily Golubev once again visited Taganrog within the framework of a working trip to the city on July 28. He was accompanied by the First Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council Andrey Yatskin and the president at Sinara Group Dmitry Pumpyansky.

During the visit, Vasily Golubev held a meeting on the development of Taganrog as tourist destination. Furthermore, Governor inspected the sites on Urban Revitalisation Program, such as the central alley of Dubki Grove, the surroundings of the former passenger ship terminal and two apartment buildings.

Particular attention was given to the undergoing renovation of Taganrog streetcar system. Governor examined the recently unveiled tram station on Lenin Street, assessed the progress in the tramway modernization, and familiarized himself with the internal design of the first new streetcar, recently delivered to the city.

New single-section low-floor trams are to provide comfort to the passengers. They have wide doors and passageways for baby carriages and disabled people. New trams are equipped with sockets to charge gadgets, video surveillance system, recorded announcement facility, screen for multimedia, and system of climate control.

"The project is very labor-intensive: deadlines are tight, scale is large. However, the first phase is nearing completion. It is important to continue working, because our next challenges will be even more formidable", Dmitry Pumpyansky indicated.

"I am sure that the residents of Taganrog will appreciate the convenience of new streetcars. The immediate task is to meet all the deadlines. Renewed public transport will certainly make Taganrog more appealing as a tourist destination", Governor Vasily Golubev said.

"The modernization of Taganrog streetcar system is the cornerstone of the local invigoration. Nonetheless, it is necessary to be engaged in all the other matters. Let's carry out long-term work and make a good impression", Senator Andrei Yatskin encouraged.
