April 8, 2022: yesterday Rostov Oblast Governor Vasily Golubev and the First Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council Andrey Yatskin visited Taganrog within the framework of a
working trip to the city.
Governor Golubev and Andrey Yatskin participated in the planting of pines and junipers in Peter's Square. The event was held in conjunction with both the traditional spring activities of Arbor Day and "Gardens of Memory". The latter is a project of Rossotrudnichestvo (Federal Agency for CIS Affairs, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation), aimed at the remembrance of the Great Patriotic War's victims.
"I am proud that we have planted these wonderful trees here in memory of the heroic deeds of our grandparents," said Andrey Yatskin.
The delegation was also briefed on the progress regarding the installation of the
memorial sign "Trinity Fortress on Tagan-Rog Cape" in Peter's Square. The works will have been finished by mid-May.
On the same day, Vasily Golubev and Andrey Yatskin assessed the progress achieved in the second phase of
Taganrog streetcar system's renovation.
