March 12, 2009: City Council (Duma) elections were held in Taganrog on March 1, 2009.
Twenty-five deputies have been elected to the new City Council. 24 aldermen represent the political party "United Russia" (Yedinaya Rossiya) and 1 alderman representing the Communist Party of Russia (KPRF).
Mr. Yuri Stefanov was re-elected Chairman of the City Council (Duma), and Mrs. Yelizaveta Artyomova was endorsed as its Vice-Chairman.
