October 27, 2020: an exhibition of the best artworks submitted for the 10th International Children's Art Contest "Anton Chekhov and Characters of his Works" opened at Taganrog Chekhov Public Library (the concert and exhibition hall, the small exhibition hall).
The first competition was held in 2004 within the frameworks of the events dedicated to
Anton Chekhov's Memorial Anniversary and brought together over 200 artworks from 14 cities of Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus. The organizers are Taganrog Arts & Culture Council, Children's Art School named after Seraphima Blonskaya, and Foreign Relations Office of Taganrog Local Government.
In 2020, 1680 artworks from Russia and 39 world countries were received by the organizers of the Chekhov Art Contest: Albania, Argentina, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Belarus, Bulgaria, Canada, China (Peoples' Republic of China, Hong Kong and Chinese Taipei), Czech Republic, Donetsk Peoples' Republic, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lebanon, Macedonia, Malaysia, Mexico, Moldova, New Zealand, Norway, Pakistan, Qatar, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sri Lanka, South Korea, Turkey, Ukraine, United States of America, and Uzbekistan.
The
results of the competition were announced in May, but the exhibition was rescheduled due to COVID-19 restrictions. It will be open to public until November 22, 2020, provided all health safety requirements are observed.
