July 1, 2026: at the World Finswimming Championships in Incheon, South Korea, trainee of the Taganrog Olympic Reserve School No. 13 Ksenia Saprykina won a gold medal, setting a new European record.

Ksenia posted a best time of 2:56.71, outpacing her competitors in the 400-meter final (underwater swimming). She also won a silver medal in the 200-meter race.

This success is particularly significant for Russian sports. The previous victory in this event was achieved by Soviet swimmers 40 years ago, in 1986, at the World Championships in Berlin. That gold went to Svetlana Frolova from Leningrad. Ksenia Saprykina not only repeated but surpassed historic achievements, demonstrating the high level of training of Russian athletes.

Ksenia Saprykina's success was a significant contribution to the overall team standings for the Russian team, which confidently took first place at the World Championships, winning a total of 28 medals.
