February 25, 2016: folk band of Taganrog Chekhov Teachers' College (former TGPI, now part of Rostov State University of Economics) is to participate in Festival International de Musique Universitaire (FIMU) in Belfort, France. Since 1987 this annual cultural exchange between the audience and the artists has been traditionally held in the streets of the old city.
In 2015 a total of 620 bands from 57 countries applied for the 30th anniversary edition of FIMU de Belfort, and the Taganrog-based folk band "LEL" was selected to be play at the festival, which will be held on May 13-16, 2016.
The 2016 FIMU de Belfort will focus on the double bass - four or five strings. This powerful and imposing instrument will be the center-piece of the 200 concerts at the upcoming edition of the festival. In addition to the concerts, there will be many events, such as workshops, conferences, exhibitions, etc. to enable the festival-goers to discover the numerous facets of the double bass.
The organizers are planning to unveil the complete program sometime in March, 2016.
