November 11-12, 2005 in the city of Trabzon (Turkey) with the assistance of the Municipality of Trabzon and the
IBSC Executive Directorate was held the 16th Assembly of IBSC.
International Black Sea Club is a non-governmental voluntary organization, created to strengthen business and cultural cooperation between the port cities of the Black Sea basin countries. The Club consists of 24 cities from 9 Black Sea countries.
In the Assembly meeting participated representatives from Bulgaria, Greece, Russia, Turkey, Ukraine and Trans-Dniestria. As the honorable guests there were present Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine in Turkey Mr. A. Mischenko, General Consul of Georgia in Turkey Mr. N. Gogitidze, Consul of Georgia in Turkey Mr. Zaur Mchedlishvili, and the official representatives of Trabzon province.
The following issues have been considered during the Assembly: the reports on the Club's activity for the period 2003-2005; the President's and his Executive Directorate's work; considerations of the Club's plans and initiatives for the next year; the upcoming International Symposium "Spokusa" to be held in Trabzon, Ankara and Istanbul in spring 2006; the affiliation of new Club's members, in particular the Tourist's cluster "Southern tourist ring" (Voznesensk, Ukraine).
One of the issues on the agenda was the experience of
IBSC countries membership in the World Trade Organization on the threshold of Ukraine and Russia's entrance. The Assembly examined and considered the reports of the representatives from Turkey and Bulgaria.
The city of Odessa has presented an improved draft version of "The Black Sea Encyclopedia" in Russian and English.
The main event of the 16th
IBSC Assembly was the new IBSC President's election for the period 2005-2008. The mayor of Trabzon (Turkey) Mr. M. Volcan Canalioglu has been elected the new
International Black Sea Club President.
The next
IBSC Assembly meeting will be held in Odessa, Ukraine in March 2006.
