December 13, 2022: the closing ceremony of the federal educational project "Vladimir Arsenyev Memorial Year" took place in Taganrog Vocational Technical School of Marine Engineering. The project was led by representative of Russian Geographical Society Gennady Shmidko.
Chief Specialist of Taganrog Local Government's Foreign Relations Dept. Dmitry Koulitchev participated in the event. He read aloud the Russian translation of the letter signed by Cornelia Burmann - the first deputy president of "Forum Russische Kultur GŁtersloh". As stated by Ms. Burmann in her letter, Vladimir Arsenyev's "message about the value of friendship that crosses all the cultural boundaries is relevant today like never before."
About a year ago, the President of the Russian Federation signed a decree on the commemoration of the 150th anniversary of Vladimir Arsenyev's birth in 2022. Vladimir Arsenyev was a Russian explorer of the Far East and writer, who recounted his travels in a series of books. In April 2022, a thematic videoconference
was held between students of Taganrog Vocational Technical School of Marine Engineering and School No. 2 named after Valery Chkalov in the city of Naryn, Kyrgyzstan.
Kyrgyz students have been regularly participating in cultural events organized in Taganrog, including a "video bridge"
within the framework of the International Project "The Heritage of Saints Cyril and Methodius in the modern world"
(in cooperation with Taganrog Municipal School No. 5), International Children's Art Contest "Anton Chekhov and Characters of his Works"
, and in the 2nd International Reading and Literature project "Reading Chekhov Aloud"
, where kids from Naryn were the most active participants with over 20 videos in Russian, Kyrgyz, English and German languages.
